Website runs on WordPress in multisite/network mode, where each platform has own website. Single theme is created to handle all platforms with different color styles for each one. Theme relies on use of jQuery and custom plugins for it for popups used to perform all sorts of operations, and uses AJAX for many areas. Plugin is made to handle all website operations including scrapping apps data for each of the platform, updating statistics, handling newsletters…

Images upload and download is implemented with very fast and reliable resizing and caching of smaller images. Framework implements highly advanced control panel system that spans over several panel to cover wide range of options. Other side of framework is wide range of functionalities built in for SEO, navigation, widgets, layout control, jQuery powered effects and much more. Right now there are 5 plugins offered on the website. Some or free, and only support is payed for, some have lite (free) and pro editions. In all cases premium support is available as a membership subscription and includes tutorials, video tutorials, premium forum, documentation and even email tickets system.

I made a plugin that handles several different types of users: administrators, moderators, users, company users. Plugin handles posting new complaints/rewards/suggestions, companies,  companies products. Plugin also integrates GD Star Rating and GD Press Tools plugins for several features. Plugin also changes great deal of the rewriting used for categories, posts and everything else. It has extensive management tools and panels, statistical tools and much more.

Theme is created by Tanja de Bie, but I made many modifications from initial design. Plugin is closely integrated into every aspect of the theme. Everything has been optimized for speed, and right now website handles 10.000 page views a day on the shared hosting account without any problem, with number of visits rising each day.

TVScape is organized around reviews for TV series, but instead of single review for each series, we are reviewing each season of the series, giving a much detailed picture about the series, and more precise rating for reviews. Website is using some advanced features like custom taxonomies and extensive use of GD Star Rating plugin.

This plugins support different product types. For each product type you can define number of data fields for images, lists and text. Plugin uses T2 Templates System I developed for GD Star Rating to control all the rendering. Plugin also adds rewriting to create customized URL’s for comparation pages and adds several widgets. One of the latest additions to the plugin is integration with the Amazon, and search options to find and link products from Amazon as a part of product rendering.

In 2009 I had two plugins in the Plugin Competition on Weblog Tools website, and they were under the name of the client, and my name was not included. And there is a good chance that you have seen my work on many websites, even without my name associated directly.

Since I can’t list these plugins, I will try to at least talk a bit about the functionalities implemented.

Among complex plugins I have developed two very big plugins for one company that were used to manage advertisments on their WordPress powered website. But there were many non standard elements since the ads on the website were tied into the content of the website. Plugin also supported PayPal payments and had extensive control panels and statistics. For the same company I made plugin to manage parking spaces and parking stations. This was very, very complex plugin that had many functionalities, supported payments, different types of parking spaces and countless other things. Included also was statistics, brand new control panel for customers in the website front end and much more.

I made plugins for advanced related posts systems, shortlinks, templated rendering, RSS manipulation and much more. By the latest count I made 25 custom plugins for different  customers.

Even though I am big fan of PHP, I also have great knowledge of C#, so the most projects for Ilumnis I worked on are with C# in the background. I honestly hate ASP.NET as web platform, and I always tried to avoid it, or use it very little. That’s why I introduced ExtJS to Ilumnis and from middle of 2007, ExtJS became main web application interface for all Ilumnis projects, and over the next two years we made many such applications. They were all powered by C# on the backend.

Other big aspect of work for Ilumnis is SQL that is used for all projects and some of them were really large with databases with over 100 GB in size. I have developed countless scripts for database manipulation and also applications that targeted easier work with some of the database based projects. All databases were MS SQL Servers powered with number of large servers. In the 2008 we were also experimenting with clustering using PostgreSQL on Linux based machines, but for the most part that was abandoned even the developed systems were very well done and usable.

The only PHP project I worked in Ilumnis is Ilumnis website that even uses WordPress to power the news section. This is still official website for Ilumnis.

Due to many other projects Starscape theme is not developed anymore, but it’s still interesting to see what can be done with this theme. I use it still as a showcase for the integration with GD Star Rating plugin. Also, early versions of what was to be Starscape  II theme were also abandoned, but some of that is used as base of new upcoming theme framework that will be released in the first months of 2010.

Current Starscape theme is right now available on it’s own blog. One of the plans for new theme framework is creating Starscape II theme down the line.
